Our current priorities include:

  • Specialist masonry repairs
  • Replacement of historic bricks and stonework
  • Structural stabilization
  • Ground and drainage improvements
  • Conservation of heritage features
  • Improvement of visitor facilities and access

Every aspect of the work is carried out using conservation-grade materials and specialist craftspeople experienced in historic restoration.

Looking to the Future

Our Vision:

  • Fully stabilised and restored masonry
  • Protected historic features
  • Improved visitor access
  • Environmental survey to help develop a conservation plan
  • Survey of the facilities to explore the possibility of retrofitting the buildings to reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Enhanced educational and community engagement
  • Landscaped and maintained grounds

With sustained support, the site will not simply survive — it will thrive as a living part of our shared heritage.

The Reality of Conservation Costs

Because this is a historic site, restoration cannot be carried out using modern shortcuts. Each repair requires:

  • Skilled heritage masons
  • Traditional materials
  • Careful documentation
  • Sensitive conservation methods

Examples of Current Costs (including Vat):

  • A single historic brick: £5.50
  • A day of specialist masonry labour: £450
  • A full week of conservation work ( 5 days): £4,500

These figures reflect the specialist expertise required to protect the integrity of the site.
