A Place for Community and Welcome
St Stephen’s Hall is at the heart of parish life at St Hugh of Lincoln—a welcoming and flexible space where our community gathers, grows, and celebrates together.

Located within the grounds of Buckden Towers, the hall forms part of the development of the site by the Claretian Missionaries in the mid-20th century. Today, it continues that legacy as a place of hospitality, formation, and community life.
At the Heart of Parish Life
Each Sunday, St Stephen’s Hall becomes a lively and welcoming extension of the church.

Sunday School takes place here after the morning Mass, offering children a space to explore and grow in their faith in an engaging and supportive environment.

After the Family Mass, the hall hosts tea and coffee refreshments, giving parishioners the opportunity to meet, talk, and build friendships.

These simple but important moments help to nurture the sense that the parish is not only a place of worship, but a genuine community.
A Space for Young People
St Stephen’s Hall is also an important base for youth activities, which are organised in collaboration with Buckden  Churches Together. This ecumenical partnership brings together young people from different Christian traditions, offering opportunities to gather, build friendships, and grow in confidence and faith.

This shared approach reflects the wider commitment of the parish to work alongside other local churches in serving young people and fostering unity within the community.
Serving the Wider Community
Beyond parish use, St Stephen’s Hall is available to and used by a range of local groups and community activities.

Its flexible space makes it suitable for meetings, small events, and community gatherings.

In this way, the hall plays an important role not only within the parish, but also within the wider Buckden community—continuing the long tradition of Buckden Towers as a place of welcome and encounter.
A Living Part of the Mission
St Stephen’s Hall is more than just a building. It is a place where faith is shared, friendships are formed, and community is strengthened.

Whether through children’s formation, shared hospitality after Mass, or ecumenical youth activities and local gatherings, the hall quietly supports the everyday life and mission of St Hugh’s.
