31 May 2026
The Parish of St Hugh of Lincoln at Buckden Towers was filled with joy on Sunday 31 May as we celebrated the First Holy Communion of a group of our young parishioners.
After many months of preparation, prayer and learning, the children received the Eucharist for the first time. They shared this special moment with their families, catechists and the wider parish community. Parents, grandparents, godparents, relatives and friends all came together to celebrate this important day.
First Holy Communion is an important milestone in the life of every Catholic. However, it is much more than a single celebration. It marks the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith and friendship with Christ through the Eucharist.
Throughout the preparation programme, the children explored God’s love, the life of Jesus, prayer, forgiveness and the meaning of the Mass. As a result, they discovered that they belong to a much larger family of faith.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make the day so special. Our thanks go to the catechists who gave their time throughout the year, the musicians and liturgical ministers, those who prepared the church and everyone who supported the children and their families through their prayers and encouragement.
We also continue to pray for these young people. May the joy they experienced on this special day remain with them throughout their lives. May they continue to discover the love of Christ in the Eucharist and in the life of the Church.
Congratulations to all our First Holy Communion children and their families. We wish you every blessing as you continue your journey of faith.
